The Colorado and Mojave deserts meet within the park so there's a wide variety of terrain throughout the park—mountainous, rocky with boulders, dried grass, and sand. The "trees" are really yuccas, a variety of cactus, that bloom in mid-March (we just missed it). Fascinating area. Just watch out—we saw a rattlesnake!
