Mackinaw City and Fort Michilimackinac

Image
Mackinaw City lies at the southern end of the bridge and is the gateway to Mackinac Island. It has many hotels, campgrounds, and two ferry companies that service the island. Ice breaker Fort St. Philippe de Michilimackinac overlooked the straits that connected Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. Built in 1715 to protect fur traders, it was seceded to the British Following the French and Indian War. The British considered it too vulnerable during the American Revolution and moved it to Mackinac Island. Fort Michilimackinac  The fort has period actors how demonstrate colonial firearms and drills. Crossing the bridge with our trailer Bridge views Bridge views This place has 2,000 campsites and cabins, store, restaurant, bike rentals, pool, beach, mini-golf, game-room, and playgrounds. It's easy to loose your way and the hundreds of campfires each night give it a woodsy ambiance like no other place.
