Fargo, North Dakota

We drove into Fargo to visit family friends of Lyle's. As tempting as it was, we didn't stop to see the aliens. Old Fargo Theater with neon and pretty flowers. Fun shop in the downtown area Metal artwork celebrating the steamboat history on the Red River. Enclosed walkways for their frigid winters. Brewery displaying local water towers. Casselton, N Dakota

We stayed in Casselton, N Dakota, on our way to Minneapolis and had a nice meet up with Lyle's in-laws. Unfortunately we forgot to take a photo.  Casselton is a small farming town outside of Fargo, established in 1876 by the Northern Pacific Railroad as a "homesteader town". Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, ND

The park, located near Bismarck ND, is home to the On-A-Slant Indian Village and reconstructed military buildings including the Custer House. The fort, located on the confluence of the Missouri and Heart rivers, was built to protect the expansion of the transcontinental railway. In 1876, Custer's cavalry column departed from this fort toward the Little Bighorn, Custer and half of his men never returned.
