Traverse City and the resort towns of the eastern shore.

We visited several summer resort towns: Harbor Springs, Bay View, Petoskey, and Bay Shore on the Little Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan. Charlevoix, on Lake Charlevoix. Traverse City on the Grand Traverse Bay. Glen Haven and Glen Arbor at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore and South Haven near Covert, MI. As one local put it "during the summer this town is jammed with rich people staying at their summer lake homes". All of these towns were lovely, crowded and expensive. Still it's tempting to try a summer or two.
